Submitting samples for tests of estrogen receptor / progesterone receptor, IHC, breast cancer HER2/neu protein,
staining method, and breast cancer HER2 gene, FISH
These tests are performed to help determine the course of treatment for a case with definitive pathological diagnosis.
Please provide the pathological diagnosis and histological type in the pathology request form to put in your request.
In some cases, the presence/absence of cancer cells and histological type may not be clear;
please provide a copy of a certificate of pathological diagnosis when putting in your request.
(It is not required if SRL has conducted the general pathology.)
If for some reasons you are unable to provide a copy of a certificate,
please provide as many specifics as possible such as the pathological diagnosis (e.g. histological type)
and clinical information in the pathology request form.
For a testing material, provide paraffin-embedded blocks that have been fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin fixative for about 24 to 48 hours.
Wrap the paraffin blocks in gauze, etc., and place in a plastic bag, etc. before submitting them, to prevent them from being damaged.
We accept requests using fixed tissues and unstained slides; please keep in mind the following:
For fixed tissues, put in your request also for the block preparation
[Code No.: 05651 3][Code No.: 5651 6] at the same time.
For unstained slides, make sure you use silanized slides, as many as required according to the test name you request for (see below).
Note that 9 slides will be required for 2 different codes.
[Required number of slides when ordering with unstained slides]
