For the isolation and identifi cation of virus, it is important to have appropriate testing materials and to have samples collected as soon as possible after the onset.
When selecting materials for the isolation of virus, please send in more than one materials wherever possible for a better isolation rate.
Swab of aff ected area, vesicle fluid, stool, etc.
*2 Wipe aff ected area with a sterile cotton swab. Transfer the specimen into a container with virus preservation solution according to the methods shown in the figures below. Then, refrigerate the specimen.
Urine, cerebrospinal fluid, pleural fluid, nasal discharge, etc.
Collect a specimen of an equivalent volume to the virus preservation solution according to the method shown in figures below, and refrigerate the specimen.
Tissues
Collect a small piece of tissue specimen (about 5 mm cube), and place it into the virus preservation solution. Then, refrigerate the specimen.
*1 For the identifi cation, only samples that have been isolated by SRL are accepted.
*2 Use a sterile cotton swab with a plastic or aluminum shaft for sampling.
