These are genomic tests developed by GHI (Genomic Health, Inc.) of the United States that are performed on breast cancer tissues.
OncotypeDX DCIS, meanwhile, is designed to predict the risk of local recurrence in patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS),
helping make treatment choice according to the predicted risk.
OncotypeDX DCIS
<Indications for OncotypeDX DCIS test>
Female with ductal carcinoma in situ
<OncotypeDX DCIS (Criteria used in the outside facility)>
DCIS SCORE
Low risk
< 39
Intermediate risk
39 - 54
High risk

DCIS scores provided are currently based on data from non-Japanese subjects.
Please complete the OncotypeDX request form. (Please check with our sales in charge for details.)
Follow the instructions below to prepare a total of 9 slides of HE stained and unstained samples,
place them in 5 object cases (Z10) and send them in at room temperature.
(Please ask our sales representative for the object cases (Z10).)
Please make sure that you also put in a request for OncotypeDX Pretreatment
(Code No.: M780 6) at the same time.
Please avoid putting in another request at the same time.
Provide as much information as possible in the supplementary column of the OncotypeDX request form,
such as the pathological diagnosis (e.g., histological type),
size of tumor/site of invasion, results of pathological immunostaining, etc.
Please note that because the test is conducted overseas,
it may take longer than estimated due to sample transportation and circumstances at the testing facilities.
Preparing HE stained and unstained sample slides
First, thinly slice a tissue section of 3 to 4 μm thickness for HE staining.
Write “A HE” on the slide.
Next, thinly slice 6 tissue sections of 10 μm thickness for RNA extraction.
When picking up the tissue sections, arrange them so that they are all in the same directions.
Leave the sections that have been picked up to dry naturally; avoid paraffin melting.
Write down the numbers 1 through 6 in the order the sections were sliced off.
Lastly, thinly slice 2 tissue sections of 3 to 4 μm thickness for HE staining.
Write “B HE” and “C HE” on the slides.
* When preparing samples, please take the following precautions to avoid contamination:
Replace the microtome blades for every sample.
Use clean water when picking up the sections.
When slicing off thin sections, do not handle samples with bare hands but use disposable gloves.
Putting in a request using paraffin blocks
Wrap the blocks in gauze, etc. and place them in a plastic bag, etc. to prevent them from being damaged in submitting them.
SRL will prepare HE stained and unstained sample slides according to the GHI acceptance standards before submitting them for testing.
The paraffin blocks you provide will be returned along with the GHI test result report.
Please allow extra time (1–3 days) for the preparation of samples in addition to the standard turnaround time (day) for OncotypeDX (14–26 days).
